Talk to Kingston Power and Sail Squadron

Good turnout last week for the talk given to members of the Kingston Power and Sail Squadron and their quests. The videos and slides that accompanied the presentation seemed to be well received and attracted a variety of interesting questions, and some valuable comments from well informed members of the audience.

Which Wrecks are your priority/favourite? POW Kingston
Mooring season is coming up and POW would like to know which wrecks are your favourite. When ever possible priority will be given to the desires of divers but you have to let us know what they are.

The most important (and expensive) annual project is placing the moorings at wrecks. With limited funds its best to allocate them where the divers and boats want to go.
It is not a one time thing to moor a wreck. The boat operators dedicate great effort, time and gas to the moorings over the season. The buoys get damaged, break loose, lines and chains break and they have to be replaced.

Keynote Speaker confirmed for our AGM..


POW is delighted to announce that David More, a celebrated local historian and author, will deliver the keynote speech at our AGM on March 24th. Mr More writes historical novels based on painstaking research and rich with accurate details of the periods concerned. He gave an outstanding presentation recently to an audience at the Marine Museum of the Great Lakes. His talk is likely to cover historical material relating to the War of 1812 and earlier Anglo-French conflicts. It should not be missed.

Remember - the first $10 of breakfast costs will be covered for POW members. Breakfast begins at 9:30 am at Legion Branch 631 on Bath Road (4045). The AGM will commence at 11:00 am.

Mr More will have books available for sale after his address.

Annual General Meeting - March 24, 2012

The Annual General Meeting will be held at the Canadian Legion Branch 631 Hall in Collins Bay on Saturday, March 24th. The address is 4034 Bath Road Members are invited to arrive at 9:30 am for breakfast and the meeting will commence at 11 am. POW will pay the first $10 towards members' breakfasts! Be sure and renew now - or do so on the day to qualify.

Members are asked to send items for inclusion in the agenda to the Secretary by March 17th.
